Iron-woods are becoming some of the fastest growing clubs on the market.The original Cobra baffler (a superb club),TaylorMade rescue and Adams i-wood were the first clubs to dip their toe into the water and have been followed by a host of others.An iron-wood is a cross between a fairway wood and a driving iron.
This 18 degree model is seen as a replacement for a 5 wood or 2 or 3 iron,depending on your preferences.The head is an elegant deep red colour and the clubhead itself is quite low profile (top of ball sits above crown of head) and feels very heavy.This will always instill bags of confidence in any golfer,particulary the high handicapper faced with a difficult lie in the rouch.
The club is quite compact from heel to toe and features a rudder like rail (complete with swoosh!) in the centre of the sole.The CPR graphite shaft,in black and red,feels quite stiff for a regular flex and the fine proprietary Nike grip,with placement guides for the hands,finishes off a really nice looker.

Performance:
CPR stands for "Club for prevention and recovery" so it stands to reason that this club should be a good performer from rough.It certainly does knife through thick rough with ease,lifting the ball out on a high trajectory although low handicappers may get some "pop ups" due to the low profile head.
Fairway lies are coped with well and the wide sole provides plenty of confidence,with the soft landing shots holding greens from long range easily.This club is a useful alternative from fairway bunkers also (wide sole a benefit) and when teed low (low profile head MUST be teed down) is a useful long iron alternative on tight drives and long par 3's.
The "3 wood chip" (the one Tiger and Norman use around the greens) is also an option with this very versatile club.

Price for graphite is outstanding value.Resale and trade in value are assured due to wide appeal and ever growing popularity of these clubs and manufacturer.

Verdict:
In summary it is no surprise to see so many of these clubs on professional tours.This is a well made,user friendly and extremely versatile piece of equipment which will save you shots from all sorts of situations.Highly recommended!
