Nike blade

Club:Nike Forged Blade 3-pw
Shaft:Nike steel stiff flex
Grip:Nike
Looks: Simple and elegant, the purist and indeed any golfer just has to love the look of a pure blade. These Nike offerings are on a par in the looks league with anything that Mizuno and Titleist has to offer.
A compact muscleback, thin topline, narrow sole and high lustre chrome finish are the hallmark of any quality blade and all are to be found here. The Nike steel shaft is a heavier version of the speed steel shaft used in the Pro Combo irons from the same manufacturer and is virtually identical to the industry standard Dynamic Gold.
The grip is a good one, giving a visual indication of proper hand placement. The clubs sit squarely behind the ball, the short irons in particular being very pleasing to the eye.The long irons, however look extremely intimidating (probably due to the relatively small heads).
The finish throughout the set is top notch and the famous swoosh will not go unnoticed by playing partners (T.Woods plays this set!!)

Performance:High handicappers should not attempt to shoot career low rounds with these knife like gems. While the low shooter will benefit from the soft feel, high spin, low flight and ease in workability of blades, these will all hurt the consistency of the high handicapper.
These clubs are also not the longest hitting irons around (often blades have much weaker lofts than cavities) and are about half a club (5-10 yards) shorter than the Pro Combo's.Accuracy and control is superb, however, and also the short irons spin the ball like a top.
The long irons are a struggle to get airborne, but can produce piercing rockets that will be particulary useful when playing in high winds. The thin soles make shots from deep rough a little difficult, but this feature helps use from hardpacked sand,a help in winter conditions.

Value
Price is pitched at around the same level as competitor blades (Mizuno,TaylorMade,Titleist). The lure of the Nike brand and quality finish should ensure good trade-in and resale value.

Verdict:
Fine clubs for the single digit guy, high handicappers will be better served by the Nike Slingshot (just pretend Tiger uses them!) and aspiring mid-handicappers will be lured by the Pro Combo's.If you value control and feel over distance and forgiveness then these clubs are among the finest blades to be found.
